Strikeforce: Diaz vs Cyborg Results : Diaz submits Cyborg
After putting an impressive leg kick clinic on the Strikeforce Welterweight Champion for nearly 2 full Rounds, Evangelista *Cyborg* Santos made one fatal mistake. He took Diaz down.
As one half of arguably the most entertaing 1st Round in Strikeforce History, Santos has nothing to be ashamed of. He put on a hell of a show tonight and showed that he can be a huge factor at 170.
Cyborg landed 34 out of 46 brutal leg kicks on Diaz but Nick kept coming forward peppering him with his trade mark jabs. In the end Cyborg scored a takedown and then it was curtains. With a black belt of his own in B.J.J., there arent many who can handle the jits of Diaz. Diaz wasted no time submitting Cyborg via armbar with 10 seconds left in the 2nd Round improving to 5-0 in Strikeforce.
When asked if he wanted to call anyone out for his next opponent Diaz answered that he fights for Strikeforce. He's willing to fight whomever they put in front of him, and if Paul *Semtex* Daley can defeat Yuya Shirai in Manchester next month , he'll have a date with Semtex this Spring.
Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg Results: Jacare retains Title
photo: MMAWeekly
Ronaldo *Jacare* Souza was able to perform his trademark alligator crawl at the Shark Tank Saturday Night after defeating Robbie Lawler in his first defense of the Strikeforce Middleweight Championship.
Give credit where credit is due. Lawler had Souza on wobbly legs midway through the 1st Round after a deadly shot to the side of the head. In the second round Robbie shook off multiple submissions attempts from the champ but it was only a matter of time.
Ronaldo *Jacare* Souza submits Robbie Lawler via Rear Naked Choke (Round 3, 2:00)
Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg Results: Herschel Walker dominates
Herschel Walker landed 40 out of 58 strikes including an uppercut to the jaw that sent Scott Carson's mouthpiece flying.
After taking a kick from Carson it was all over. Walker screamed for his opponent to come at him then proceeded to impose his will. Walker takes Carson down, lands some knees and punches forcing Carson to turtle up sans mouth guard.
Walker defeats Carson via TKO (strikes) (Round 1, 3:14)
Strikeforce Diaz vs. Cyborg Results: Gracie submits Prangley
Photo: Jeff Sherwood/Sherdog
Roger Gracie improved his record to 4-0 tonight with an impressive victory over Strikeforce vet Trevor Prangley.
The Brazilian sunk in a rear naked choke that forced Prangley to tap at 4:19 of the very 1st Round.

Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg Main Card Pick Em
Main Card: (Showtime 10 PM EST.)
• Welterweight Championship: Nick Diaz (C) vs. Evangelista *Cyborg* Santos
Although Cyborg does have the ability to finish the Champ with one big shot I gotta stick with Diaz here. He's only been finished once in his career and that was 9 years ago. No way Cyborg can out point him in a 5 Round fight. Diaz via UD.
• Middleweight Championship. Ronaldo *Jacare* Souza (C) vs. Robbie Lawler
Again. A challenger who could finish it with one shot. We all know that Lawler has scary explosive as f**k power. I just feel like Jacare is too smart to take any risks standing with Lawler early. Look for some quick take downs from the champ. Jacare should grind this one out and end it in the clinch. Souza via TKO.
• Herschel Walker vs. Scott Carson
I missed Herschel's debut a year ago. This is one of those guilty pleasure fights that I'm actually excited for. Don't know anything about Carson except that he took almost a decade off between his last fight and the one before? I'll take Herschel Walker because he's Herschel Walker. Dude still does 1000 push ups a day.
• Roger Gracie vs. Trevor Prangley
The name Gracie should always command respect in the game. I just have a tough time picking any Gracie when it comes to fighting a well rounded fighter in recent years. The Gracie's are the reason that Trevor Prangley and just about everyone else in the game collects a paycheck. That said... Prangley via TKO.
Wagner TKO's 300+ Pound Tim Sylvia in 32 Seconds
Wagner said that he thought he'd have the speed advantage over Sylvia (Who weighed in at 311 the day before) and utilized it ... with a quickness.

UFC 127: B.J. Penn: " I'm just looking to show my fighting spirit."
BJPENN.com
"I know (Jon Fitch) is under pressure, people telling him that he has to finish fights and stuff but I honestly think he’s just going to come out and do the same thing he always does, he’s a grinder and he goes after you and grind you into the ground and I just have to stop all that and turn it around."
"Well me and Jon Fitch are in two different places in our lives. All these fighters are really, really, really concerned about one thing, winning. And it’s not that I’m not concerned about that, but I’ve been in their shoes for a long time and that’s all I was concerned about too. But more concerned than winning, I want to show everybody my fighting spirit. What happens when I step into the ring, it’s either going to be the best win, best loss or best draw you ever [expletive] saw. … It’s just that everybody’s in different places in their lives; he’s looking for title shot, all these people are looking to come up, some people looking to win to keep their job and this and that. I’m just looking to show my fighting spirit."

HOV-MMA Male P4P Rankings
" Dominick Cruz is like one of those bosses at the end of a video game back in the day. Only his victim's don't have the luxury of a reset button."
Male P4P (1/11/11)
1. Anderson Silva (27-4) (1)
With Super Weekend only a week and a half away fans of MMA & the NFL are in for a treat. Silva vs. Belfort has all the makings for a modern day combat sports classic. If Silva wins all eyes are on GSP vs. Shields. If Belfort everyone's MMA Rankings will be shaken up from top to bottom.
2. Georges St. Pierre (20-2) (2)
GSP is the perfect fighter to headline the UFC's debut in Toronto this coming April. His opponent Jake Shields is no slouch. 15 straight wins dating back to 2004 over the likes of Dan Henderson, Yushin Okami, Carlos Condit, Mayhem Miller & Paul Daley, makes Jake Shields GSP's most dangerous challenger to date.
3. Jose Aldo (18-1) (3)
Fans were holding their collective breath at the news of a neck injury to Aldo late last year. Luckily, for everyone except for fighters that weigh 145 pounds in the UFC Featherweight division, Aldo will be back in action on the stacked UFC 129 card in Toronto.
4. Dominick Cruz (17-1) (↑10)
Dominick Cruz is like one of those bosses at the end of a video game back in the day. Only his victim's don't have the luxury of a reset button. His dismantling of top Bantamweight contender Scott Jorgensen in Arizona last December was a thing of beauty. Cruz will be on the sidelines for the first half of 2011 due to hand surgery.
5. Jake Shields (26-4-1) (↑6)
#2 vs. #5 this April. If #2 wins he gets to fight #1 as long as #1 wins on Super Saturday. If #5 wins he probably has to give #2 an immediate rematch.
6. Shogun Rua (19-4) (↓5)
After a year off of nearly a year due to his 3rd knee surgery, Shogun will be back in action at UFC 128 in March where he will make his 1st LHW title defense against Rashad Evans. Evans has been out of action for nearly as long. He opted to wait for Shogun to heal after earning #1 contender status instead of staying busy and risking having his title shot stripped from him.
7. Frankie Edgar (13-1-1) (↓4)
Although Edgar drops 3 spots due to a draw with Gray Maynard at UFC 125, he gained more respect from me and millions of others showing huge heart following his 1st Round beatdown. Edgar vs. Maynard 3 has to be one of the most anticipated fights of the year following this instant classic.
8. Cain Velasquez (9-0) UFC (8)
Another Champion on the sidelines. Cain had surgery on his right shoulder and is due back in August. His first title defense will be against the winner of Dos Santos vs. Lesnar.
9. Jon Fitch (23-3) (↓7)
Fitch vs. Penn. UFC 127. Australia. Mate!
10. B.J. Penn (16-7-1) (↑NR)
After taking 21 seconds to knock out UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes about 20 minutes outside of Detroit, Penn is right back in the mix at 170. His upcoming fight against Jon Fitch is a very very interesting match up to say the least.
Jose Aldo Highlight Reel
One of the world's top Pound for Pound Mixed Martial Artists, Jose Aldo makes his debut in the Octagon at the Rogers Centre on April 29th. He will be defending his UFC Featherweight Title (after the WEC was absolved by the UFC Aldo's WEC featherweight title became the UFC featherweight title)against Mark Hominick in front of Hominick's friends and family in his native Ontario.
Aldo was awarded his UFC Featherweight Belt during a ceremony at The Palace of Auburn Hills last November.
"He doesn't accept punches well." Dos Santos talks Lesnar
Dos Santos in Vegas yesterday (MsTracyLee.com)
"He doesn't accept punches well. I am from boxing, so I have no problem with punches. Guys can punch me and I feel nothing, just keep going. That doesn't happen with him. I don't know why, I guess he's got a weak chin." Dos Santos tells the LVRJ yesterday in Vegas during press day for the 13th installment of the Ultimate Fighter reality show.
" I believe I can knock him out " JDS continued
What did Lesnar have to say?
" When I bet Dos Santos, then I get my rematch with Velasquez and get my (*******) belt back. That's how I'm looking at this."
With the ongoing trend of pissed of coaches knocking down doors in recent years it should be fun to watch a couple of Heavyweights who possess enough might to tear the roof off of the UFC gym where this show has been filmed.
Who do you guys got... Brock or Junior? And of course why?

GSP vs. Silva SuperFight headed for Brazil?
Photo: Esther Lin for AOL
UFC President Dana White announced during a Q & A in Fort Hood this past Friday that the top 2 Pound for Pound Fighters in the world could finally meet in 2011.
What needs to happen? If Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva can take care of Vitor Belfort on Feb 5th in Vegas. If GSP can successfully defend his Welterweight strap against Jake Shields in April. If both fighters come out of there respective bouts healthy.
Lots of if's right? The potential SuperFight that fans have been clamoring for sometime now would be the first Champion vs. Champion fight since B.J. Penn moved up to fight GSP back in 2009. According to White, St. Pierre would move up to 185 and stay there after the fight with Silva. If this were to happen GSP would vacate the Welterweight title opening up the possibility of Tournament for the UFC Welterweight Championship. That's just me being hopeful. Most likely a fight for the vacant belt would take place involving two of the top players in the WW division at the time.
Where would the fight take place? With the UFC making its return to Brazil on August 27th, the HSBC Arena would like be the setting for what would surely be the most anticipated fight in the history of Mixed Martial Arts. This gives the promotion almost 4 months to hype up arguably the 2 greatest fighters in the sport.

Pulver wins! Pulver wins!
Jens Pulver's 3 year, 6 fight losing streak came to an end tonight in Woodstock, Illinois at XFO: 38. It only took the first UFC Lightweight Champion of All time 49 seconds to dispose of Mike Lindquist via rear naked choke.
Lindquist came into the bout with an impressive 6 - 19 record.
Pulver will fight again at Chicago Cagefighting Championship on March 5th.
UFC Fight for the Troops 2: Hominick earns his shot at Aldo in Toronto
Hominick dropped Roop early with a right hand and didn't waste any time finishing him from there. Hominick ended his opponent at 1:28 of the first round with an accurate assault wobbled Roop leaving him stumbling towards Hominick after the bout was called.
With this victory Hominick earns a shot at UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo. The bout is likely to Co - Headline UFC 129: St. Pierre vs. Shields at the Rogers Centre in Toronto if both fighters are healthy.
UFC Fight for the Troops 2: Why You Should Watch
6 Reasons. Because everybody does 5.
UFC Fight for the Troops 2 starts streaming live at 7 PM EST tonight on Facebook. Then we hop on over to SPIKE TV for the Main Card at 9. Of course you were gonna watch it anyway but just incase...
<--------- 1.
2. Hominick vs. Roop. This fight is huge. Hominick was guaranteed a title shot against Jose Aldo in his backyard at UFC 129 in late April should he defeat Roop. With an impressive victory Roop could steal that shot. This is by far the most important contest of both fighters young career's.
3. Range. This is the first UFC card in the post merger era where the deep range of weight classes has really stuck out. Flashbacks of anticipation for those free WEC card's on Versus. Mix that with 2 Heavyweight fights on a free UFC card with absolutely no title implications, just potential doomsday. Then of course an exciting Main Event at 155 and the Hominick vs. Roop fight. Range like Gary Oldman.
4. You know you're curious how the whole UFC on Facebook thing is gonna look. Is this just a one time thing or will it become commonplace in 2011?
5. Can Cody McKenzie sink in another guillotine and make it 12 straight wins with his signature move?
6. Great cause. Donate Here

UFC Fight for the Troops 2 Quick Picks

UFC Fight for the Troops 2 (Fight Night 23)
January 22nd, 2011
Fort Hood
Killeen, Texas
Strikeforce Challengers 13: 4-1
2011: 7-9
Career: 117-69
Main Card:
• Evan Dunham vs. Melvin Guillard
Dunham vs. Florian was tapped as the Main Event of Tonight's card until Florian was sidelined due to a knee injury. I believe Dunham would have handled Florian much like Maynard did at UFC 118. Not so much with Guillard.
Yes I saw what Dunham did to Sherk, a fighter who is in the twilight portion of an incredible career. He still hasn't shown me that he's ready to be in the conversation. If he beat Florian he would've taken Ken-Flo's spot in just about everybody's Lightweight Ranks. With a win or loss tonight against Guillard it just puts him back where he was... ready to fight a Top
10 guy like Florian. A loss tonight for Dunham and its back to the drawing board. I'm taking Guillard to spoil Dunham's Winter via TKO.
• Matt Mitrione vs. Tim Hague
This one should be an all out war. Two Heavyweights who love to stand and bang. Two guys who can give and take bombs for 3 straight rounds and then smile about it later at the bar. The fans are the real winners when we get to view free fights like this on Saturday Night. I'll take Mitrione via Split Decision.
• Mike Hominick vs. George Roop
Battle of the Zombie Slayers. Roop's head kick KO against Chan Sung Jung was the kind of shot that inspires people to make highlight reels. Even more dangerous is Roop really has nothing to lose here. Hominick has been guaranteed a shot at Jose Aldo's Featherweight title in front of his backyard at UFC 129 in Ontario with a win over Roop. Roop has been guaranteed nothing. Hominick wins his first bout in the UFC since 2006 via TKO earning his title shot.
• Pat Barry vs. Joey Beltran
Another exciting Heavyweight tilt. Barry's man crush on Cro Cop lost his his last fight. He was winning up until he started to feel sorry for Mirko and fell under his spell. He won't make the same mistake tonight. Barry via KO.
• Cole Miller vs. Matt Wiman
Miller via submission.
Facebook.com Live Stream
• Cody McKenzie vs. Yves Edwards
I'm taking the sexy pick here. McKenzie via guillotine.
• DaMarques Johnson vs. Mike Guymon
Guymon via KO.
• Mike Brown vs. Rani Yahya
The former WEC Featherweight Champ was chomping at the bit to get back in there after a close split decision loss against Diego Nunes 22 days ago. When the Korean Zombie was forced of the card due to injury Brown didn't hesitate to jump at this one. Perfect opponent for Brown to showcase his striking. Brown via TKO.
• Waylon Lowe vs. Willamy Freire
Freire via Submission.

Team JDS vs. Team Lesnar
Earlier today UFC President Dana White announced next season's Ultimate Fighter coaches during a media call for UFC Fight for the Troops 2. The two coaches for the 13th installment of the series will be Heavyweights Junior Dos Santos (12-1) and Brock Lesnar (5-2).
The show will continue to run Wednesday Nights on Spike TV with the season debut taking place March 30th. Dos Santos and Lesnar will handle any differences that may take place during the 6 weeks of filming in the Octagon after the series ends in June. Early rumors are that the fight, which will earn the winner a title shot at Cain Velasquez, could take place at UFC 131 in Vancouver. Dos Santos already earned a title shot with a victory over Roy Nelson in Oakland last year but as we all know fighters get injured and new opportunities present themselves. This is huge for JDS, not only does he get more exposure... he also gets to fight Brock Lesnar. If Lesnar can't work out his issues with being blasted in the face we can expect the final installment of the Brock beatdown trilogy. One thing you can say about Lesnar though, you do not want to miss his fights and every fighter involved brings it on cards he headlines. Everyone is watching.
TUF Season 13 will begin with 28 Welterweights. The 2 finalists will battle it out for a 6 figure contract on June 4th at The Palms.

UFC 125 Fallout
• Marcus Davis (17-8 MMA, 9-5 UFC)
A move down to the crowded post merger Lightweight division probably wasn't the smartest move of the fighter's career. After starting his UFC career with 6 straight wins, Davis has dropped 4 of his past five, including his Lightweight debut against Jeremy Stephens at UFC 125.
• Phil Baroni (13-13 MMA, 3-7 UFC)
The *New York Bad Ass* always makes things interesting that's for sure. With a colorful personality, plenty of knowledge and lots of love for the sport I could see a future for him in commentary.
• Antonio McKee (25-4-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC)
After a 15 fight winless streak McKee was signed to a four fight contract with the promotion. After an unimpressive performance where he came out on the wrong end of a Split Decision, McKee was sent packing.
• Brandon Vera (11-6 MMA, 7-6 UFC)
For the sake of Vera's face and medical bills, it's probably good that he's been cut from the best fight promotion on the planet. Vera's face was broken in three places during his fight against top LHW Jon Jones back in March of last year. After a long recovery Vera returned to have his nose re arranged by another top 10 LHW in Thiago Silva to celebrate New Years Day.

• Shane del Rosario (10-0 MMA, 2-0 SF) vs. Lavar *Black Superman* Johnson (15-3 MMA, 3-0 SF)

January 7, 2011
Nashville Municipal Auditorium
Nashville, Tennessee
With a poor 3-8 showing to start the season at UFC 125 you better believe I'm chomping at the bit to make my way back to .500 sooner rather than later. Hence the rare Strikeforce Challengers Pick Em. Here are the picks for tonight's Showtime televised portion of the card.
Televised Card (Don't have Showtime? No excuse. Free preview weekend Jan 7 - 10)
• Tyron Woodley vs. Tarec Saffiedine
Tonight is Woodley's chance to showcase his talents once again headlining his 2nd Challengers show. This time he squares off against fellow Welterweight, "The Muscles from Brussels" Tarec Saffiedine , who comes in riding a 3 fight win streak. Woodley dominates this one showing off his wrestling prowess . Expect some good footage for the highlight reel.
• Daniel Cormier vs. Devin Cole
Gimme Cormier all day here. I know my track record has been below average since Mid December but this is a good of a lock as you'll get in MMA. Cormier via violence.
• Ovince St. Preux vs. Abongo Humphrey
This bout marks OSP's 3rd in under 2 months. St. Preux has found his stride of late riding high on a 6 fight win streak entering tonight's festivities. St. Preux finishes Humphrey via TKO making himself one of the promotion's fighters to watch for in 2011.
• Julia Budd vs. Amanda Nunes
The Canadian Budd looked phenomenal in her debut at Challengers 11 where she became the first fighter to defeat Shana Olsen. Budd makes a case for a date with Cris Cyborg by winning this one in convincing fashion.
• Rhadi Ferguson vs. John Richard
Dr. Rhadi via KO

There is no doubt Saku will be back to fight with DREAM sooner rather than later.

Respect for "Fe"
The only thing I can really do here is be honest. I didn't have a whole lot of respect for Frankie Edgar as a Champion before January 1st, 2011. Two things I did respect about him, great cardio, great boxing. This cat can throw some wicked quick combo's, and just as quick, he's out of harm's way.
Aside from those two things ... I just didn't get what all of the fuss was about. The Answer to what? I mean even the oddsmaker's had this guy as an underdog in 3 straight title fights. So he beats a Sean Sherk who is on the downside of his career. Then he gets a title shot after beating Matt Veach???
Then what does Edgar do at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi? Well he wins of course. How did he do it? It was just BJ being BJ. He wasn't ready. He didn't take Edgar seriously. He was sick. Maybe he was tired. Actually Penn deserves a rematch, Edgar didn't even win that fight! (Even as one of the biggest Penn slappys out there I had no doubt that was Edgar's fight the first time is saw it. I wasn't impressed. It wasn't fun admitting it, but there was no question.)
So then comes the rematch. There is no way B.J. Penn is going to lose two in a row to this clown. I really hope he enjoyed his summer with the belt because this one is gonna end early, and violent. Not only did Edgar win the fight, he won all 5 rounds in convincing fashion. Not even B.J. could argue this one. He made Penn look silly at times utilizing his muay thai kicks, taking out his legs from under him. That said, he couldn't finish him. He scored points and landed his shots but this guy is just breezing by here. Some fighters just have certain opponents numbers right? This Edgar guy just has Penn's number. He's still nothing to write home about.
Then comes the rematch with Maynard. Maynard is gonna *wrastle* Edgar Memphis style on New Years Day. I wonder whats gonna happen when the wrestling based Sparty alum Maynard faces off against the flashy *Showtime* Pettis in the spring. Ok time for the 1st Round. *Laughter ensues. Wow this is like 5 full minutes of Cain vs. Brock. Except Frankie isn't assuming the turtle position. Maynard is making him look goofy though. This cat is all jacked up, it's just a matter of time. All I can think to myself is "I told you so..I told you so...." This guy just isn't a champion. So he beat B.J. twice. Big deal. Sometimes B.J. just isn't B.J. He needed to move up in weight, B.J. is just getting too old to cut to 155. Or something. I guess.
Round 2. Frankie Edgar wins Hank Booth over. Edgar seems to be on automatic working his usual combos and just going through the motions. It's only a matter of time before Maynard lands a shot and puts him back on queer street. Wrong. Edgar lands a Maynardesque power bomb that has me talking out loud. "Oh shit."
Compustrike had Maynard out landing Edgar 44 - 11 in strikes during the 1st Round. I scored this one 10-8 Maynard along with just about everyone else. There was no way Frankie could climb back into this one unless he could finish Gray which just wasn't gonna happen. How about outlanding Maynard 106 - 55 in the final 4 rounds . How about arguably the greatest wrestler in the Lighweight division (Maynard) going 1 for 11 in takedown attempts after a dominant 1st Round against Edgar. How about Edgar himself scoring 4 takedowns after being left for dead.
Of course we all know the fight ended in a draw. It was so close that had it gone either way no one could have really argued it. One thing is for sure though, Dana White made the right decision. Maynard deserves a rematch, and he got one. Will he be the favorite again though this time? After blowing his proverbial load in the 1st Round, Edgar looked better than ever, overcoming adversity and displaying the true heart of a Champion.
Fuck all of the excuses. B.J. wasn't just being B.J. He got beat. Twice. Did Edgar deserve a title shot at that point in his career? It doesn't matter. He got it, and he became a Champion. Overcoming the beating Maynard dealt him in the first five minutes of his 2nd title defense on Saturday Night shut me up. That's what true Champions do. Shut critics like us the fuck up and make us believe, while more importantly, inspiring millions who have been down and out before to never quit. Frankie Edgar, whom many have proclaimed undersized for the Lightweight division, is a true Rocky story. The working man's Champion. Is it too late for me to jump on the bandwagon? Is there even any room left?
Anton Gurevich may have said it best. This from LowKick as seen on BloodyElbow.
" UFC Lightweight Champ did everything necessary to get some respect from the fans before defending his title against Gray Maynard. But this fight against Gray Maynard was surely a turning point. Frankie Edgar showed tremendous heart, and ability to bounce back from what was basically a "no way out" situation. I don't understand how anyone can say now Frankie Edgar is not deserving his belt. Edgar's "Fe" T-shirt means "Iron", a perfect slogan for what was nothing but an Ironman performance."
Watch this fight again if you haven't already. From the moment Edgar walks (actually he runs) out to Biggie Smalls "Kick in the Door", to surviving one of the most lopsided 1st Rounds in UFC history, to the powerbombing of Maynard in the 2nd, all the way until the final decision. This is one of those fights, one of those performances that make me proud to be a fan of the sport. A career defining performance for a fighter, a champion, who has plenty of fight left in him. I can't believe I'm actually excited to see what he does next.

St. Pierre will defend his title against Shields in Toronto
UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre should be prepared as usual to control Jake Shields wrist on April 30th in Toronto.
MMAJunkie has confirmed that what we all thought would happen is indeed true. GSP will indeed make what many believe could be last title defense at 170 if he exits defends his strap successfully against Cesar Gracie standout Jake Shields.
These two top 10 Pound for Pound Fighters will headline the Toronto card with a rumored tilt between Light Heavyweights Randy Couture and Lyoto Machida serving as Co Feature on this Legendary Night for the sport.
Shields has come out the victor in his last 15 fights dating back to 2005, while GSP finds himself on an 8 fight win streak, 5 of them being title defenses.

UFC 125: Fighter Bonuses
$60,000 bonuses were awarded to these fighters following the event.
• Fight of the Night: Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard
• KO of the Night: Jeremy Stephens
• Submission of the Night: Clay Guida
UFC 125 Results: Edgar vs. Maynard ends in Draw
Main Card:
Lightweight Championship: • Frankie Edgar (C) vs. Gray Maynard
These two fighters just put on one of the greatest UFC Main Events in recent memory. Edgar survived Maynard's 1st Round onslaught to retain his Lightweight Title. Unfortunately for Maynard, Anthony Pettis is slotted for Edgar next or else we would probably see an immediate rematch. Either way there are no losers here, even the judges got the decision right. We had this one 47-47 in the end with Maynard taking the 1st Round 10-8. 2nd: Edgar 10-9. 3rd: Maynard 10-9. 4th Edgar: 10-9. 5th: Edgar 10-9. The Judges had it (48-46, 46-48, 47-47)
• Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann
Brian Stann may or may not have knocked Chris Leben out not once, not twice, but three times during this 3 minute and 37 second bout. Hard to watch for Leben fans. Stann is a monster at 185.
• Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva
Thiago Silva dominated Vera in what may very well be Brandon's last fight in the UFC. Silva also got to show off his drumming skills on Vera's back. Oh ya...Vera's nose also got rearranged in this fight. The judges scored this one (30-26, 30-27, 30-27) in favor of Silva.
• Nate Diaz vs. Dong Hyun Kim
Hyun Kim won this one via UD (29-28 x 3). Dong really didn't do a whole in this one except outscore Diaz in takedowns 3-1. Other than that alot of Diaz attempting subs from the bottom. Neither fighter looked impressive.
• Clay Guida vs. Takanori Gomi
The dude submits the Fireball kid via guillotine at 4:27 of the 2nd stanza. Not the fireworks we expected from this match up but still a good fight nonetheless. Huge huge huge notch for Guida.
